Spirit of the Wilderness is a family owned business. Steve, Kathy and Ginny offer you the expertise and enthusiasm that comes with over 30 years of canoeing and outfitting in the BWCA and Quetico.
Our reputation, quality equipment, and educational approach to outfitting are some of the reasons people give for booking our services. We’ve introduced many folks to their first taste of the Northwoods – and watched as they develop skills to go it alone – but they keep using our services, year after year.
We invite you to explore the BWCA or Quetico and allow Spirit of the Wilderness to outfit your needs. Visit our website for more information on Canoe Rentals, Guided Trips, Live Bait, Tackle & Gear.

On any of a number of Ely area lakes, we pursue a variety of species, both winter and summer. Lake trout, trophy pike, bass, walleyes and panfish are all on the menu.
We fish out in the open in winter, as weather allows, but also fish out of heated portable hub shelters for client comfort, and in cold weather those shelters are set up in advance, so there’s no lingering outside in harsh temperatures.
Lake trout, particularly in winter, are the most aggressive fish we’ve ever pursued through the ice. They will fly up and down the whole water column in pursuit of lures, and are strong and relentless fighters. There are crappies over 14″, pike over 40″ (with the largest so far 46.5″), and walleyes to 10 lbs.
Summer rates are $350/full day and $250/half day for up to two anglers, with $50 for each additional angler.
Winter rates are the same, except, because the days are short, only full day trips are offered.
In all seasons, I provide all gear, so all clients need to bring is licenses and whatever they want to eat, drink and wear.
Take advantage of 40 years of fishing experience and 25 years of teaching experience. Come on up and have the trip of a lifetime on some of the most beautiful lakes in the boreal forest.
We have everything you need to begin your adventure in the Northwoods. Disconnect and escape to nature.
Jordan’s provides the gear and knowledge you need to navigate your trip to Northern Minnesota’s Boundary Waters and the Quetico Provincial Park.
Trolling for a Boundary Waters Outfitter or Ely Resort? There are many Outfitters and Resorts around the Boundary Waters and Ely MN, but only Moose Track Adventures takes the #1 spot on Trip Advisors. We handle it all – we are a Boundary Waters Outfitter and Canoe Guide Service, Fishing Guides, and have a resort with lakeside cabins.
Our resort is nestled just outside of Ely with 6 lakeside cabins. This is perfect for a comfortable get-away with family, friends, the guys, the ladies or as a couple. Our specialty lodge in Ely has boats, canoes, kayaks, and even fish finders available to our cabin guests. And if a cozy cabin stay isn’t quite what you had in mind and you wish to be immersed in the Boundary Waters – turn to our superior Ely outfitting services. We’ll equip you with top quality gear and help route your Boundary Waters or Quetico Park Wilderness Adventure.
Canoe Country Outfitters is conveniently located in downtown Ely, plus we maintain a private canoe base on Moose Lake (20 miles east of Ely). From these two locations we are able to quickly service all area trip starting points. We have outfitted more people and have been under the same family management longer than any other outfitter, so no one can match our experience and knowledge of the area.
Entry permits are required to travel through this area and we’ll make the application in your behalf. These permits are very limited, so early planning is a must.
A colored brochure, rates, and free map will be sent upon request. We look forward to assisting you in setting up a trip!
